Iran’s Flag Size: The flag of Iran is a tricolor flag with the National Emblem “Allah” in the center of the flag. The colors present in the flag are green, white, and red, and Takbir is also written on the flag in Kufic script, and Takbir is written 22 times in total on the flag. The emblem of Allah is right in the center of the flag and, it is in red. The three horizontal stripes are equal to each other. This flag was adopted on the 29th of July 1980 and the proportion of the flag is 4:7 which is quite different from other flags in the world. Meaning: As Iran is an Islamic country, so the colors chosen for the flag have deep religious meanings. The green color is the color of Islam and, it represents Islam and the Islamic country while white represents the peace and purity within the country and the religion they are following. Last but not least, the red color represents the courage of the people of Iran. The emblem in the Center which says Allah is a unique Persian-inspired alphabetic symbol that is used for the name of God, and it also represents the martyrdom of the people of Iran. The Takbir that means “Allah is Great” is written 22 times on the flag. History: Iran had many Empires and, every Emperor and empire had their flags. Achaemenid Empire that once ruled over Iran had its flag and, just like this many other empires were established with their flags. The flag that we see now, was adopted in 1980 after the modification of several things, and it was designed according to the principles of Islam. That is the reason why these colors have been chosen with the Emblem in the center. Interesting Facts: Some Iranians still use the old flag which has a lion on it which is said to be 3000 years old, and it is considered as a symbol of the country’s glorious past.
