Afghanistan’s Flag Size: The flag of Afghanistan contains three colors with a white field which contains “Shahada” and it is inspired by the German flag. The colors in this flag are black red and green. These three colors are aligned vertically with equal areas. The one with three colors is used internationally and the one with Shahada on it is also equally popular. As Afghanistan is an Islamic state so the Shahada is used on a plain white base. Shahada is an Islamic oath and it is in black on the flag in a calligraphic style. While the second flag consists of three colors. The black color in the flag represents the troubled 19th-century history while the red color represents those who fought and died for independence and last but not least the green color represents hope and prosperity. The design ratio of width and length of the flag is 1:2. History: In the 20th century, Afghanistan was the only country that went through 19 national flags. Every flag had a mosque in it and later on wheat in it. In 2002 the current form was finalized. The tricolor flag seems to be in danger after the Afghan Taliban rule as they have their flag. The tricolor flag came into being when Afghan King Amanullah Khan visited Europe for the first time in 1928. After visiting Germany, he goes inspired by its flag, so he decided to design his country’s flag based on the German flag. Meaning: As there are two flags, one represents leadership, and the other is used internationally. The one with the Shahada is simple due to its white background and Shahada written in black color. This flag also represents the Taliban. As in 2021, Kabul fell and, the Taliban took over the country. White represents peace and, Shahada is an Islamic oath which is the faith of every Muslim. As the national language of Afghanistan is Pushto, the translation of Shahada is also in Pushto with white. The tricolor flag that was used by the Afghanistan international cricket team and in Paralympics has three colors. The black color represents history, while a red represents the blood that was spilled in gaining independence and the green color is for hope. There is a mosque present in the center of the flag as Afghanistan is a Muslim country so, it represents Islam and Muslims living in the country. Interesting Facts: Afghanistan had more than 25 flags before but, now Afghanistan has two flags only. Only four flags have any structure or building printed on them and, one of them is Afghanistan’s flag. 251,830 652,230
