The flag of Ghana: Size: The national flag of Ghana is a four-color flag. The colors included in the flag are red, yellow, green, and black. There are three horizontal stripes. These stripes are equal to each other. The first stripe is a red shade while the second stripe is of yellow shade with a black five-pointed star in the center of it. The third stripe is of green color. The flag was adopted on the 28th of February 1966. The proportion of the flag is 2:3 as most of the flags in the world have. Originally the flag was adopted in 1957 but it was reinstated. Meaning: The flag of Ghana has three colors in it which are also known as the Pan-African colors. These colors are common in African country’s flags. The banner of the country was planned by Theodosia Okoh who tried to address the country in his plan. The red color in the flag represents the blood and sacrifices of the people of Ghana who lost their lives while protecting and gaining independence for their country. The gold shade in the banner shows the abundance of the country as a regular asset. The green color represents nature and the rich forests of the country. The black star shows African emancipation. This star is present in the center of the flag. History: The designer of National is Theodosia Okoh. The flag was designed in 1957. The flag was used until 1962 but then it was abandoned. Later in 1966 it was reinstated again and was adopted officially. Ghana has gained independence from Britain. Right after independence they designed their flag and adopted it officially. The flag has been unchanged since it was adopted in 1966. Interesting facts: The flag of Ghana was designed by a teacher named Theodosia Salome Okoh. She was an instructor just as a legislator and craftsman. The banner of Ghana was the second banner that embraced the Pan African tones. These tones are taken from the banner of Ethiopia. The dark star in the focal point of the banner is otherwise called the “guiding light of African Freedom”. The star was gotten from the Black star line. At a time when Ghana was known as the gold coast, the flags of Portugal and Sweden were also used in the country. The banner emphatically mirrors the individuals of the nation and the historical backdrop of the country. 92,098 238,534
