Flag of Ukraine Size: The National Flag of Ukraine is a simple bi-color flag. The shape of the flag is rectangular. The colors present in the flag are blue and yellow. There are two horizontal bands. Both of the bands are equal to each other. The first band is of blue shade while the second band is of yellow color. The combination of these two colors is inspired by the 12th-century flag of the kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia. The proportion of the National flag is 2:3. Meaning: The Ukraine flag may seem simple, but, the flag has a deep meaning. The shades used in the flag show the nation and the history of the country. The blue color in the flag represents calmness. It not just represents calmness but also the wide blue sky. The color is taken from nature, and, the other shade, blue, symbolizes joy, and the prosperity of the nation. The yellow color also represents wheat fields in the country. Ukraine has fertile soil and, their main source of income is wheat, so, to represent that they used yellow color in their flag. History: The first flag was adopted in 1848. Over time many modifications took place. The current flag was adopted on January 28th in 1992. The current shading mix comes from the twelfth-century banner of the Galicia-Volhynia Kingdom. And from that, many flags have been changed. After many modifications and redesigning finally, in 1918, the flag was officially adopted by the Ukrainian people. When Ukraine fell under the control of the Bolsheviks the new flag came into existence; but, in 1992, when the country gained independence, and, right after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the old flag with yellow and blue color was restored. The flag was adopted as the National Flag and, the flag is unchanged since. Interesting facts: It is accepted by a few that the blue and yellow tones return past Christian occasions, and these were the conventional services to address water and fire. The light blue stripe was changed to darker shades because they believed that the light color wouldn’t be visible under sunlight. Flag Day is also celebrated in Ukraine and, the whole nation celebrates it on August 23. There is a rule that at the point when the banner is flown upward, the blue band should show up on the left. During the Soviet Union, the usage of the flag was a crime. 233,062 603,628
