Philippines Flag Size: The national flag of the Philippines is a tricolor flag with two horizontal bi color bands and a triangle. The two horizontal strips are in royal blue and crimson-red color, while the triangle is in white color with a sun inside. The original version of the flag was first adopted in 1898 but later on, modifications were made and in 1998 the design was finalized. The size of the flag is 45×90 units. The sun is in the center of the triangle, and it is 14 units from the hoist and its diameter is 9 and the two horizontal strips are equal to each other with just different colors.
Meaning: The shade of the colors has been changed in the past but later on, the design and the shades of the colors were finalized. The blue shade represents peace, truth, and justice. The white color in the flag symbolizes hope and equality while the red color symbolizes patriotism and valor. The sun in the flag was there from the very start. Sun is considered as the sign of freedom. The 8 rays coming out of the sun show those eight states that fought against Spain. There are also three small stars and these three stars represent the three big islands of the Philippines. The names of those islands are Luzon, Mindanao, and the Visayas. History: Katipunan was a revolutionary movement that opposed Spanish rule within the Philippines. The first flag was in red color with three white Ks in a horizontal manner which represented the Katipunan’s full name. These flags were part of the revolutionary movement but the flag that the Philippines has now is from way back. The concept is present from 1897 later on during the revolutionary movement many designs came in front and many flags were changed until 1998 when the design and the colors of the flag were finalized and the flag is unchanged since. Interesting facts: The Philippines flag was inspired by the U.S flag as the colors and the usage of stars are the same. The white triangle also represents the Katipunan which was the most influential and dominant force during the Spanish revolution. In 1985 President of that time attempted to change the shades of the flag, but he was rejected but in 1998 the shades were changed. The Philippines flag is similar to the flags of Cuban and Puerto Rican and these three flags share many similarities. Do you know? In 1907 the Philippines flag was banned for straight 11 years but later on the act was removed and the flag was restored. 120,000 300,000
