Flag of Malaysia: Size: The flag of Malaysia is a four-color flag. The four colors present in the flag of Malaysia are red, white, blue, and yellow. There are 14 horizontal bands on the flag. The horizontal stripes are in red and white color. There is a blue rectangle at the upper left side of the flag which contains a crescent and a 14 point star, which is also known as Bintang Persekutuan (Federal Star). The current national flag of the country was adopted in 1963, almost 63 years ago. The proportion of the flag is 1:2, as most of the flags in the world. The red color in the flag represents the sacrifices of the people who lost their lives while protecting the country, while the white color symbolizes the peace and purity of the people of Malaysia. As Malaysia is an Islamic country, this emblem is used in the flag. Yellow is the royal shade of the country and it represents the sovereignty of the rulers. History: The flag of Malaysia was designed by a 29-year-old architect who was at that time working for the public works department. In 1947 a flag design competition was held and he entered the competition. He submitted two designs from which this one was selected and later on a few modifications were made in 1963.
