Flag of Canada: Size: The National Flag is also called the Canadian flag. This flag consists of two colors meaning it’s a bi-color flag. The colors present in the flag are red and white. There are three horizontal bands in the flag. The first and the last bands are in red, while the center one is more like a square is in white. There is a maple leaf in the center of the flag with 11 points. This leaf has a red shade. The flag was officially adopted in 1965, almost 56 years ago. The proportion of the flag is 1:2. The flag is now the national symbol of the country Meaning: The base color of the flag is red and the two colors used in the flag represent the country as well as the history of the country. The red shade in the flag represents the sacrifices and the bloodshed of the Canadian people who lost their lives for the sake of their country. The white shade represents peace and hope. The flag of Canada is also known as Unifolie which means ” The one leafed” as the flag has a maple leaf in the center which represents the cultural heritage of the country. History: In the past designing, the flag was a debate. The first flag ever used by the country was back in 1497. At that time, they used George’s cross as the flag but later on, in 1534 a new flag took the place of the old one. The current design of the flag was designed by George Stanley and the flag was influenced by the Royals Military college flag. So, finally, the design was approved, and the flag was adopted officially by the people and the government of the country, and the flag is unchanged since. Interesting facts: The maple leaf present on the flag has been the symbol of Canada since the 18th century. In 1921 the white and red shades were set as national shades by King George 5 himself. A professor at Royal Military College in Kingston designed the National Flag of the country. His name was Dr. George Stanley. This design was inspired by the flag of The Royal Military College of Canada. Almost 5000 designs of the flags were submitted at that time from which the design of the professor was selected and was adopted officially afterward. Canadians also made the largest flag. It was 38 by 76 meters long and wide, and it cost them almost $15k to make it. 3,855,100 9,984,670
