The flag of Poland: Size: The flag of Poland is a bi-color flag. The colors present in the flag are white and red. There are two horizontal bands equal to each other. The first band is white while the second band is red. These two shades are the national shades of the country, according to the Polish Constitution. Military uses another flag which is the same as this one but an emblem in the center of the flag. The flag was adopted officially on 1 August 1919. The proportion of the flag is 5:8, which is quite different from most of the flags in the world. Meaning: The flag of Poland may seem simple with just two horizontal bands and with just two colors but, these two colors are the national colors of the country and both of these colors represent the country and the history of the country. The red color in the flag represents the bloodshed and the sacrifices of the Polish people in the war of independence or the blood of those people who lost their lives to defend their country. The white color represents the freedom Polish people have and also the purity and indulgence of the Polish people. History: The first flag was adopted in 1990. The two colors in the flag are the national colors since the country’s first declaration of independence in 1831. But later on, Russia retained control over Poland, but the flag stayed the same, and it was officially adopted in 1919. Flag faced many problems throughout the year, but the flag remained unchanged. In 2004 Polish people started celebrating Flag Day and on that day they hoist the flag and pay their respect to the flag but there is no holiday on that day. The flag was adopted in 1919, and the flag has remained unchanged since. Interesting facts: There are days in Poland, which are also called flag flying days in Poland like on May 1 there is a state holiday. 2 May is the date for the Polish Flag Day, and more. The flag is also flown during sporting events in the country and foreign countries. There are several protocols to fly the flag. The flag must not be disrespected.
