Bangladesh FlagSize: The Bangladeshi flag has just two colors. The color of the base or lower side is green. A disc is present in almost the center of the flag which is in red. At first, the flag had a yellow map inside but later on, that was removed in 1972 after the Liberation War. The main reason for removing the flag was that it was difficult to render the map correctly on both sides of the flag so to overcome this problem the map was removed. The flag is in bottle-green color and the size in proportion of length to width is 10:6. Meaning: The Bangladeshi flag has two colors the red and green. The base color is green and, there is a red disc in the center of the flag. The green color represents the nature of Bangladesh as Bangladesh has fertile soil and, one of their source of income is from the land. The red tone addresses the gore in the battle for freedom. The disc shape symbolizes the rising of a new country. The green color in the flag also shows the hope and importance of Bangladeshi youth. During the war of Liberation, many Bangladeshis lost their lives so, remember that red color is added to the flag. History: The flag of Bangladesh was adopted on the 17th of January in 1972, right after the Liberation war. Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan and, had a similar flag but, there was a map inside a map which was later on removed. The original flag was designed by the union of students who were at that time studying at the University of Dhaka. The design was later on selected to be the national flag of Bangladesh and, the flag is still in use.Interesting facts: In December 2013, almost 27,117 people gathered at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka to create a human flag. Dhaka is the capital of the country. They succeeded in doing so. It was the world’s largest human flag. That is why it was also included as a record in the Guinness Book of World Records. Later on, India broke that record by creating a human flag by gathering 43,830 people. In 2021, Saimon Imran Hayder attempted another Guinness World Record by creating a 240m2 Bangladeshi flag with 16,000 envelopes. Some people must fly the flag above their homes in Bangladesh. For example, the president, prime minister, and speaker of parliament. It is also flown on days like Mother tongue day which is also known as national martyr day. 56,980 147,570
